Testing Out the Cheapest Makeup I Own

Trying the Cheapest Makeup I Own

In a previous post called “Top 5 Products Under $5,” I mentioned makeup is getting expensive. There is this social phenomenon that we need to have the latest, and greatest product out there, even if it costs an arm and a leg. I wanted to test out the cheapest makeup I own to see if I could create a full face with not only products that were the cheapest but also products I already owned. The video below is just that.

Products Used:

The makeup you buy doesn’t have to cost a lot. Some of my every day, favorite products are used in this video.

One thing to take away from the video above is to use what you have. While filming this, I realized I had a whole box of makeup that I wasn’t using that I think was sitting dormant for a couple of months. Even I, a beauty and makeup obsessed girl, can buy too much. Makeup does expire so if you don’t use it within a certain timeframe, it will go bad, and you’ll have to throw it out. Even if it is just a $3.00 eyebrow pencil, $3.00 is still money that you’d be throwing away if you must throw away the product.

A way to save money when buying makeup is to use the same product for different uses. I mention that I could have used my bronzer and blush to create an eye look or use the one face duo for both blush and highlight but I wanted to test and use the makeup I own. Don’t buy more if you can use a product, you already have for another use.

Do your research before buying a product. If you know what you like and don’t like, the information out there can help you possibly save your money and time in not having to buy a product you already know won’t work for you.

Different ages of skin react different ways to products. I have mentioned and recommended products to my mom and sister, yet they don’t work out for them sometimes and vice versa. My mom has more mature (greater than 50) skin and my sister has younger skin than my mom but more mature skin than myself (greater than 30 but less than 40). Another thing is that my mom is my biological mom 100% and my sister is my half-sister (dad side). We could all recommend products to each other but with our different ages, skin types, and makeup preferences, we all like different products.

To wrap everything up, all that has been written is to share that the latest, greatest, most expensive, and popular product is not going to work for everyone. We all have different price ranges, skin maturity, and skin types. Do your research, look up return policies, and overall, don’t buy something you won’t end up using then wasting money down the road.
